VBS 2010

I had a blast with the kiddos this year.  Originally I was supposed to be with the babies. Then I was put with the PreK/Kindergarten class.  They were great!  So here is VBS for my kids. We sang we played.  We even got to go to a cave each day. We measured how tall we were. We made some great crafts.  The kids even got to "cook."  But most importantly they learned about God and how God has a plan for us.  He loves us and God made us special.

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God,
who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

From the mouths of babes

On the way home from VBS last night the following conversation happened...
Me: "How was VBS tonight? Did you have fun?"
Naomi: "Had Fun!"
Me "Did you learn about God making the world?"
Naomi: "Made world!"
ME: "Naomi, who did you learn about at VBS tonight?"
Naomi: "Daddy an' Eve."
Well, I suppose so.  Easy mix up for the girl.  We will have to work on that.

The VBS theme this year is Saddle Ridge Ranch. It is full of cowboys, horses and Bible stories.  Naomi LOVES being a cowgirl.  Can you tell?  She is having a ball.  Her teachers are doing an awesome job!  Each night when I have seen her, she has had a huge grin on her face.  And she does not seem to care that I am there. Although at the end of he night she is one tuckered cowgirl. So she is ready to come home with mommy.

Sadly I think she over did herself.  Last night she woke up sick.  She had a pretty decent fever.  So today we have been taking it easy.  I think her fever broke during nap time so if she keeps it down the rest today, tonight, and tomorrow, She may get to go to the last night of VBS.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day
To my two favorite men...

My father

And to my daughter's father

And I cannot forget my Heavenly Father...

In love he predestined us for adoption as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

cake!

Time to show off another cake.  I know there has been a bit of a lul lately.  I honestly do not have any cakes on my schedule either.  There are two possibilities but I have not other details than I am being considered.

Any way.  I got to make an adult cake.  It was very exciting!  I semi-cheated and I doctored up a box mix. So It became a yellow hazelnut. cake.  Luckily I had talked about the cake with my friend. You see, I was in Texas the week before and we did not have time to confirm what she wanted.  Thankfully I had been paying attention to our conversations.  I found out when I delivered the cake that she had texted me the previous night and told me to to worry about the cake.  I do not receive texts,  at all, they are blocked from my phone somehow.  I glad I never got it because I was able to bless her with a cake (and the cake was already baked and pre-iced).

From our conversations she wanted back and white with red accents roses if possible.  So that is what I created.

It had a layer of Chocolate hazelnut butter cream in the middle.  The roses were red velvet. it was yummy!  I could have been a bit more inventive on the black scroll work.  But I think simple is good in this case.

random update...

OK. So, things did not work out at the church.  It was a mutual decision.  It was a bit "messy" at the final meeting.  Adam and I were unaware of somethings that caused their decision to "terminate" him.  But Adam went to the meeting ready to resign. So it seems God was confirming our decision to leave.  So we are back at our previous church.  We are getting geared up for VBS and MOPS.

I am currently trying to update my resume.  I found a part time job that seems good for me.  It is a foster care family recruiter. I think it would be fun.  Also right up my ally.  When I am asked about adopting or foster care I get all pumped up.  It is with our agency which could be good.  also it is part time, with the possibility of night and weekend so, I bet it might be flexible enough to work with Adam's schedule.

We are coming up on Adam being "jobless" for a year now.  It is hard to believe. We are getting desperate.  He has exhausted so many of the typical engineering and pastoral job hunts. Now he has began applying at Quick trip, FedEX and the like.  I think I heard him mention Wal-mart too. He has been struggling the last few days.  Please pray for him.  He could use some direction and wisdom.

As for adoption, we were being considered for a little boy and a little girl.  Well we are no longer being considered for the boy.  The agency had to downsize the "potential family pool" from ten families to three.  So we got cut.  Not too surprising. But the girl's parental rights will be severed soon.  Which means she will have her staffing (the meeting they decide the best family) in the not too distant future.

Texas (pt3)

So to conclude my trip.

We went to my sisters graduation.  While there Naomi's diaper leaked through.  My 5-10 year old khaki skirt split up the back.  Naomi tried to comb a bald man's head in front of us. I took a TON of blurry pictures because the lighting was CRAZY.  But here it is...My sister graduating from collage...

I am so very proud of her.  Once we got her moved out of the dorm we headed to my parent's house.

The next few days we fed ducks, Had a birthday/Graduation party (birthday for Naomi and I)and we read books.

It was a great visit. But I was sure glad to be home.
