Family game night

Now that we are in a small town that is about 45 minutes from anywhere we are lacking a TV signal.  Especially now that everything is digital.  Sometimes I wish we could go back to the fuzzy signal just so that I can watch something. But it is a good exercise in using our creative juices to entertain ourselves and Naomi each evening.  We went through a phase were we watched a lot of movies.  But now we are doing a better job of branching out.  I think that has to do with the fact that we can go outside.

Now to the good part.  One of Adam's favorite games is Carcassonne.  Adam and I typically play while we are waiting for Naomi to finish eating (she is a super slow eater). However, one night she saw us get the game out and she scarfed down the rest of the food.  So we decided to let her play.  While the strategy part was a bit above her she enjoyed playing with the "little men,"  counting points, naming colors,  and identifying what was on the cards.     

She ended up "wining" the game. Mostly because she had both mommy and daddy helping her.  And we did not want to ruin any of her "strategies."

Hopefully for her birthday we will be getting some more child friendly games for her.

Puppy!

You would think my daughter wanted a puppy.  But she has one.  They are even learning to play together. It is so much fun to see them play together.  They are buddies! When Naomi is not around Rubia just pouts.  It is pretty sad. 

A few weeks ago my daughter's boredom level must have been at an all time high and her creativity level at a high.  I  came in the kitchen to cook supper and I discovered that She was playing fetch with....HERSELF!

She would throw the rope over the banister and then run over to it's location, pick it up in her mouth(yuck), then crawl back to the kitchen.  There she would drop the rope, bark, stand up and repeat the process. 

She did it for at least 10 minutes.  And she has done it several times since.  I think the dog was just as amused as Adam and I were. 

On Thick Ice...

This is from a while back... at Christmas we went up to Adam's Mom's place.  They have a pond.  temps had been cold even though we had not had any snow YET. The whole family went out to play on the ice.  I was a bit nervous but Naomi's boots were AWESOME.  She was even running on the ice without a problem.

For those who missed my Christmas post.  Our family will be growing this year.  The same week God answered our prayer for a job, he also answered our prayer for another child!  The new little one is expected to arrive around June 19.  (Although the nice lady who did the sonogram today said the baby was measuring a week earlier than that.)

Oh yes we did have our first Sonogram today.  And we found out we are having a ....

Sorry!  We did not find out with Naomi so we are not finding out this time either.  Wanna see?  Of course you do.  So here we go!

So it has been a while...

The holidays have come and gone.  I have run all over the country side.  Adjusting to Christmas shopping in a small town with the next good sized city being almost an hour away really took it's toll.  But we made it.  It was great!

Last year had it's ups and downs.  But God proved faithful through out.  He provided time and time again.  In the end He answered many of our prayers.  I won't give a full account of our Holiday extravanza.  But I am sure I will be posting some pictures here and there.

P.S. I am hoping to try to get back in to blogging.  I think I need the therapy it provides.  So I may be rambling a bit in the near future.  Hope you don't mind!

Our Family Christmas

We had our family Christmas earlier in the week.  Currently we are visiting my family.  So I have not had a chance to upload and mess with pictures yet from Christmas.  But here are some pictures from our family Christmas.   

OK so they are mostly of Naomi but I am not sure any one would want to see pictures of me first thing in the morning.

The rest of our trip...

Wewent to the clif dwelling museum.  Naomi had a ball. she crawled all over the dwellings.  She charmed many people and many made remarks on her hat.  If you notice in the pictures she has a gray cat with her. This is "Kitty."  Kitty is her traveling buddy.  Over the course of her life Kitty has traveled many places with her.  Although none so extensive as this trip. Kitty went every where and did everything. She even went potty a few of times.

We also went to the Air Force Academy so Adam could see the chapel.  He was impressed.


On the way home we took a side trip.  Adam had never been to Castle Rock.  Once we found it we ended up off roadin' in my minivan.  we also had to do some muddin.'  The roads had been washed out and  were nothing but mud because of the recent rain they had been getting.   We had  a picnic lunch and then headed home. 

We had a great time. It was really a blessing to get away for a little bit.

Runaway (pt3)

Opps! I forgot to post this picture of our first campground...

We spent a lot of time driving on the second day.  We found a KOA to stay at.  It turned out to be the World's Highest KOA at 10,000 feet.  We used the wilderness camping sights which were back in the Aspen.  This is where Naomi informed me that she would rather go potty in the trees than in a restroom.  Go figure.

We set up camp and then drove through Phantom Canyon on our way to the Royal Gorge. 

Naomi slept through the canyon. 

This is us looking at the bridge and the gorge for free.  I am sorry, but $25 per adult is a bit too much.  So we opted for the free outlook on the side. 

Poor Naomi got sunscreen in her eyes. 

The poor thing was a whimpering mess.  She rode most of the hour back to Cripple Creek with her eyes closed.  When we got there, we stopped to get something to eat.  It was a local's hang out.  When we showed up Naomi just wanted to be held by her daddy. But by the time we left she was entertaining the locals with her newly learned straw wrapper shooting. As well as showing off her dancing and jumping abilities.  

We took the long way back to the car.  Supposedly we had just missed some kind of local festival because there was a sand sculpture.  Here is part of it. ( I could not get the whole thing in the frame and some of it was not quite as "wholesome" as I would prefer.)

That night we headed back to the camp site and Naomi tried roasted marshmallows for the first time.  She was not a big fan.  Then off to bed we went.

random update...

OK. So, things did not work out at the church.  It was a mutual decision.  It was a bit "messy" at the final meeting.  Adam and I were unaware of somethings that caused their decision to "terminate" him.  But Adam went to the meeting ready to resign. So it seems God was confirming our decision to leave.  So we are back at our previous church.  We are getting geared up for VBS and MOPS. 

I am currently trying to update my resume.  I found a part time job that seems good for me.  It is a foster care family recruiter. I think it would be fun.  Also right up my ally.  When I am asked about adopting or foster care I get all pumped up.  It is with our agency which could be good.  also it is part time, with the possibility of night and weekend so, I bet it might be flexible enough to work with Adam's schedule.

We are coming up on Adam being "jobless" for a year now.  It is hard to believe. We are getting desperate.  He has exhausted so many of the typical engineering and pastoral job hunts. Now he has began applying at Quick trip, FedEX and the like.  I think I heard him mention Wal-mart too. He has been struggling the last few days.  Please pray for him.  He could use some direction and wisdom.

As for adoption, we were being considered for a little boy and a little girl.  Well we are no longer being considered for the boy.  The agency had to downsize the "potential family pool" from ten families to three.  So we got cut.  Not too surprising. But the girl's parental rights will be severed soon.  Which means she will have her staffing (the meeting they decide the best family) in the not too distant future.
